Removing Trading Names from ABN Lookup
Is your business still operating under a Trading Name?
Did you know that from 31 October 2018, the Australian Business Register will no longer show Trading Names on their register?
To make sure that you can continue to use your Trading Name, you would need to register that name as a Business Name prior to 31 October 2018.
A ‘Trading Name’ is not a registered business name. It is an unregistered name that businesses could use before the introduction of National Business Names Register on 28 May 2018.
Business owners who wants to trade under a name other than their legal entity name will need to register a Business Name. As Business Name is a name registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
You can have multiple business names linked to your ABN (Australian Business Number) but each name will need to be registered separately.
There can be no duplicate of Business Name therefore making it easy for customers to identify your business.
