Two Factor Authentication

Have you set up 2 Factor Authentication on your data file?

It seems to be that computer hackers are finding more and more ways to try to get hold of everyone’s sensitive information.  When they get into our data file, not only do they have our financial details but also our contacts as well.

Let’s not make it too easy for them.  We keep our wallets and purses safe but often we can be careless with our passwords.  Remember never to click on “remember me” for passwords when working online!

Another good way to add an extra layer of security is by adding 2FA (Two Factor Authentication). The 2 factors include something that you know (ie. password) and something that you have (i.e. mobile phone).

Once you have this set up on your accounting software, the next time you log in, not only would you be required to provide a password, you would also need to enter a specific number (this number changes every 30 seconds) that will be generated on your mobile phone.

Even if someone gets a hold of your password, it would be highly unlikely that they will have the possession of your mobile phone as well therefore making it difficult for hackers to have access to your data file.

Setting up the 2 Factor Authentication is pretty straight forward especially in MYOB or Xero. All you need is a compatible mobile phone.
